Grammys Pay Tribute to Phil Everly

Just as I returned from the NAMM show and sat down to enjoy the Grammys, I was pleased and honored to see that the music industry had not forgotten.  They had not forgotten the wonderful music our late leader had blessed us all with.

Phil Everly was honored by a fantastic tribute performance of “When Will I Be Loved“, a song Phil Everly wrote, performed by Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and Miranda Lambert.  “When Will I Be Loved” was famously covered by Linda Ronstadt in the 1970’s and continues to be covered by Miranda Lambert from time to time.

Billie Joe Armstrong is no stranger to Everly Brothers songs, he and Norah Jones released a duet album titled “Foreverly” late 2013.  This album covered the Everly Brothers album “Songs Our Daddy Taught Us” in it’s entirety.  Billie Joe and Norah Jones recorded “Foreverly” in a very similar stripped down fashion to the original; just two voices and a guitar.

Thank you Grammys, Billie Joe Armstrong and Miranda Lambert for honoring Phil Everly and letting us all know that you have not forgotten.  We miss you Phil!
